Knitting Projects

I have been thinking about a post on Knitting Daily……

It was about starting projects – starting as many as you wanted. Yes, finishing projects was touched on. But, the main part was about “Starting as many projects as you can”!

Not sure I agree with that.

Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE to start a new project! In fact the two yarn projects I recently purchased and posted about recently are still laying on my floor starring at me. I can just hear them say: “Start me, Start ME”!100_5059

It is rare that I don’t have 2 or 3 projects waiting to be finished. But, having too many projects started only fulfills the dreams of sellers of Yarn, Patterns and Knit Accessories.

Yes, it is fun to start a new project. But, working through a project and learning what that project has to offer is what advances a knitter’s skill. Starting 10 or 20 projects does not teach you how to make a garment fit – or what you can do next to make you happy with your finished project.

I STILL learn by completing a project. Finishing teaches me how to tackle the next project better.

In our fast-paced society, knitting is the one element in your life that can let you slow down and enjoy the journey.

100_5061The voices of my other projects waiting must be stilled while I finish the one on my lap.

Happy Knitting,
